Mitato Sessions

Mitato Sessions is an idea for recording local stories and showcasing new musical experiments. The project focuses on researching and studying the preservation of intangible cultural heritage by maintaining the cultural memory and identity of mountain area residents through a process of setting stories to music that are collected through oral history methodology.
The program aims to highlight the local history of mountainous areas whose population is decreasing and cultural characteristics are declining, as well as to create a dialogue between storytelling and different embodiments of experimental music.
Musical meetings are implemented between different musical artists, objects, and narrators. The purpose is to connect the artist with people and their stories, focusing on different art forms and the improvisation that emerges through "conversation."
Mitato Sessions combines digital tools and traditional cultural practices to preserve local heritage, promote artistic collaboration, and support the sustainability of mountain communities.
More specifically, during the project, stories are collected through oral history methodology and are used to compose a cohesive narrative that presents the customs, traditions, and cultural characteristics of the people and their place. A local object is used as a starting point for the storytelling of people who are connected in some way to it.
